How tee times work
At Pinehurst Resort, members and overnight guests get priority, and only they can play No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 to No. 11. The simplest way in is a golf package booked with your room, and No. 2, No. 4 and No. 10 need at least 2 nights. If you are not staying, you can walk on at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 from April to October and at The Cradle all year, booking online from one day before. Pine Needles, Mid Pines and Southern Pines Golf Club let outside golfers book up to 30 days ahead.
Closures to know about
Pinehurst Resort's posted 2027 maintenance closures: No. 2 and No. 8 from May 31 to June 9; No. 10 from July 5 to 14; No. 11 from July 5 to 9; The Cradle from July 19 to 23; No. 1 from July 30 to August 8; No. 4 from July 30 to August 9; No. 9 from August 2 to 8. Some courses are also topdressed on set days between May 1 and August 31. No. 2 hosts the U.S. Women's Amateur from August 2 to 8, 2027, and No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 host the PGA National Club Championship from March 15 to 17, 2027.
A sensible plan
Four nights mid week at the resort works well: arrive and play No. 4 or The Cradle, play No. 2 on day two with a caddie, head to the Sandmines for No. 10 or No. 11 on day three, then a Ross course in Southern Pines such as Pine Needles or Mid Pines on the last day. Putt Thistle Dhu in the evenings.
Getting there
Fayetteville (FAY) is about an hour away, Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Greensboro (GSO) about 75 minutes, and Charlotte (CLT) about 2 hours. Ride shares from RDU are hard to find, so rent a car or book the resort's paid RDU shuttle 72 hours ahead.

Which Pinehurst courses can the public play?
Without a resort stay you can walk on at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 from April to October and at The Cradle all year, booking from one day before. Pine Needles, Mid Pines and Southern Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines are all public.
Do I need a caddie at Pinehurst?
Caddies are strongly encouraged on No. 2, No. 4 and No. 10, where carts stay on the paths or are not allowed. A caddie costs 85 USD per bag, plus a suggested tip of 65 USD or more per bag.
